In 2004, EUCNord, the largest business and technical college in northern Denmark, made significant investments in a new IT infrastructure that would serve as a modern, flexible platform for meeting existing and future requirements. The undertaking was initially motivated by a mandate to establish a new internal and external communication and collaboration platform for 3,000 full-time students and a staff of over 400 lecturers and support personnel.
Microsoft Office, SharePoint Portal Server and Windows SharePoint Services were selected as the backbone for the new intranet portal. Hyper.Net was selected to publish the large body of Office-authored content to forward-facing Web sites.
"Our staff are engaged in the creation, production, publishing and dissemination of Higher Education courses and course materials, in addition to administering and supporting the student body and school personnel. A key requirement for us was the ability to create and manage our content in the Office Desktop and automatically publish it to internal and external web sites directly from the SharePoint environment," stated Klaus Sandager, IT manager at EUCNord.

"EUCNord has six separate addresses and four satellite locations, and all buildings are equipped with the latest IT technologies, including ICT/intranet/internet facilities etc. More than 2,000 PCs are at the disposal of the students. All students have access to computers and the internet 5 days a week, and each is provided with an e-mail address. Approximately 10,000 students enroll at the college each year, and communication and collaboration are key drivers for our productivity, innovation and quality in education," said Klaus Sandager.
